A passionate advocate for entrepreneurs, Liz is the driving force behind Initium’s Fellows community of former clients and the Diamonds network for women in leadership. Her work centres on building authentic, long-term relationships with founders—supporting them not only through scaling and exit strategies but also in navigating the transition to their next chapter with clarity and confidence.

 

Having founded and led her own award-winning business for 17 years—starting the very same year she lost her eyesight—Liz brings rare insight, resilience, and empathy to her role. Her extraordinary contribution to business was recognised in 2007 when she was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen.

Dr Kim Tan

Chairman of SpringHill Management

 

Chairman of SpringHill Management, a private fund management company specialising in biotech and social venture capital investments. He has been a pioneer of social impact investing for over 25 years and is a partner of several social impact funds including Inqo Investments (South Africa), Novastar Ventures (Kenya) and Garden Impact Investment (Singapore). 

 

He was an advisor to Johnson & Johnson Impact Ventures. He is the co-founder of the Transformational Business Network and a trustee of the John Templeton Foundation, Templeton Religion Trust and the Centre for Enterprise, Markets & Ethics (Oxford). He was the founder chairman of NCI Cancer Hospital (Malaysia) and the inventor of the sheep monoclonal antibodies licensed to major diagnostic companies. 

 

He developed the first rapid tests for Salmonella in chickens and for the atrazine pesticide in drinking water. He is a Pro-Chancellor of Surrey University (UK) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (UK). He was the former Chairman of the Surrey & Hants Innovation Growth Team, former board member of the APEC Life Science Innovation Forum and the Saracens Rugby Club. 

 

He has a PhD in Biochemistry and 3 post-doctoral fellowships from the Medical Research Council (UK). He was conferred a ‘Dato’ by the Governor of Penang (2007) and was the recipient of the Guildford Roll of Honour (2014) and the Beacon Award for Impact Investment (2017).

Currently Head of AI & Innovation at House 337 (Next 15 Group), JP shapes next-generation experiences across generative search, conversational AI, and multimodal design for global brands like Verizon, Dyson, and Universal Music Group. As Chief Partnerships Officer at Compassion UK & Ireland, she leads a dynamic team committed to releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name—mobilising churches, philanthropists, advocates, and event leaders to build long-term, transformative relationships that fuel Compassion’s mission.

 

With a gift for galvanising people and casting bold vision, Lyn is spearheading efforts toward Compassion’s ambitious goal to double the number of children served in effective programming by 2030. Her leadership is deeply rooted in a Biblical mandate for justice, powered by prayer, and animated by a conviction that true partnership unlocks the outpouring of time, talent and treasure.

 

Prior to Compassion, Lyn served as Chief Mission Officer at Christians Against Poverty (CAP), where she inspired the UK Church to actively support individuals in debt and poverty while equipping believers in evangelism and discipleship. Her passion for church transformation also shaped her work at LICC (London Institute for Contemporary Christianity), where she led Anglican partnerships across the Communion, and at the Diocese of Chester, where she drove diocesan-wide strategy for evangelism, discipleship and youth engagement.

 

Before her vocational transition into full-time ministry, Lyn led a successful business career spanning over two decades in global banking. As Senior Vice President of Strategic Change, she managed high-stakes transformations—mergers, sales & acquisitions, E-2-E organisational & cultural change, and regulatory programmes—delivering impact at the highest levels.

 

Ordained in 2017, Lyn continues to serve her local church in the North West of England, drawing from both her theological training with Durham University and her corporate experience. Keith Shelton is the Operator of Chick-fil-A Lulah Hills in Decatur, Georgia, a brand-new Free-Standing Unit that opened in June 2024. Keith has served as a Chick-fil-A Operator since 2005, leading with a deep commitment to team development and operational excellence. For 19 years, he faithfully led the North Druid Hills Drive-Thru Only location before transitioning with his team to launch the new Lulah Hills restaurant.

 

Before stepping into restaurant ownership, Keith spent seven years at the Chick-fil-A Support Center—first as a Staff Selection Consultant and later as a Franchisee Consultant—gaining valuable experience in leadership development and franchise operations. He brings a wealth of insight into building high-performance teams and cultivating a culture rooted in service.

 

Keith is also deeply involved in his local church where he serves as a deacon, leads staff development, and regularly preaches as part of the pastoral team. He holds a degree in Mass Communications from McNeese State University.

 

Keith is married to Veronica Shelton, and they are proud parents of two adult children and grandparents to three grandchildren. When he’s not leading his team or serving in church, Keith enjoys hunting, fishing, and creative writing.

As a Chick-fil-A Franchise Owner/Operator since 1974, Gene marked his 50th year with the company on August 21, 2024—a remarkable milestone in a career defined by innovation, impact, and enduring leadership.

 

He currently operates two high-performing restaurants in the Philadelphia area—Chick-fil-A at Springfield Park and Chick-fil-A at Ridley—under GENO Enterprises, LLC, generating annual sales exceeding $20 million. Gene’s performance and contribution to the brand have earned him Chick-fil-A’s Symbol of Success Award and induction into the Champions Club, recognizing exceptional sales growth and profitability.

 

Beyond the restaurant business, Gene is a sought-after leadership trainer and speaker, having delivered his SERVE Leadership and High Performance Leadership Models to audiences across the globe—including Costa Rica, Jordan, Lebanon, the UAE, Algeria, India, Peru, China, and the United States. In 2017, he addressed the international audience at the 14º Congreso Internacional de Retail at the Seminarium in Lima, Peru.

 

Gene holds a Master of Science in Counseling and Human Relations from Villanova University and brings a people-centered approach to both business and leadership. At BeechBand, Mark co-founded the company alongside Carl Beech and Nick Whiteley, bringing to market a groundbreaking wearable device designed to alleviate symptoms of neurological conditions. Under his leadership, BeechBand has rapidly progressed from concept to reality, with the first 2,000 devices selling out within hours of launch. The company is now poised for global expansion, aiming to bring relief to millions worldwide.

 

Beyond his corporate focus, Mark is a serial investor in high-social impact tech start-up companies, a trustee of Emmaus Rd Guildford and the EY Foundation, a happy husband and father of 3 grow(ing) up children, and a recording artist in his spare time (as ‘Muntjac’).

Carl Beech

Chairman & CO-FOUNDER of BEECHBAND LTD

Carl Beech is a visionary innovator, advocate, campaigner and entrepreneur whose personal journey with Parkinson’s disease led to the creation of the BeechBand—a groundbreaking wearable device transforming lives affected by neurological conditions.

 

Diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD), Carl discovered that a simple tapping method could restore his speech, which had been compromised by the condition. Collaborating with long-time friend and technologist Nick Whiteley, they developed the BeechBand, a wrist-worn device that replicates this tapping sensation through vibrations and pulses. The BeechBand has shown promising results with patients reporting improvements issues, anxiety, and gait disturbances, not only in Parkinson’s but also in conditions like MS, dyslexia, Tourette’s and essential tremor.

 

Beyond his entrepreneurial ventures, Carl has dedicated over three decades to ministry and advocacy. He served as President of Christian Vision for Men (CVM) and led Edge Ministries, focusing on reaching marginalized communities. He is voluntary CEO of Spotlight YOPD, the only UK charity supporting those diagnosed with Young Onset PD.  

 

In 2024 together with his friend Mark Preston he became one of the only westerners in recent times to gain access to an illegal cobalt mine in D.R. Congo. On return he co founded the Freedom and Justice Partnership, aiming to eradicate child slavery in the Congo. His photos, videos taken in the mines and resulting policy suggestions are being presented to the Parliament with the hope of freeing all 40k children.

Nick Whiteley is a visionary technology leader, advocate, and CEO of HFX Workforce Management, where he pioneers innovative solutions that redefine how organisations manage time, attendance, and employee wellbeing.

 

With over two decades of board-level experience across roles including CTO, CIO, and COO, Nick has led HFX to the forefront of workforce technology—introducing cloud-based platforms that integrate time management, rostering and workforce planning. His leadership earned him recognition in the Global CEO Excellence Awards, where he was honoured as Best Workforce Management Business Leader and for Excellence in Absence Management Solutions . 

 

Nick’s expertise extends beyond technology. As co-founder and CTO of BeechBand Ltd and founder of the Justify UK Foundation, he champions ethical innovation and social justice. His academic background in Artificial Intelligence and authorship on business innovation reflect a commitment to thoughtful, human-centred progress.
